Bringing People Together Through Parent College
Campaign Introduction:
Parent College is an educational program that brings families from different backgrounds together with a common goal: helping their children to grow, succeed, and reach their full potential both as scholars and as human beings. This program empowers families, schools and communities to be fully engaged in children’s growth and education by providing academic, leadership and life skills courses, offered in English and Spanish. With your help, Unity Alliance of Southern Idaho hopes to expand the program and make it even more accessible to under-served members of our community.

Campaign Story
Our Goal and Why We Need You
Unity Alliance of Southern Idaho serves communities, families and schools by providing special community development courses and resources that improve communication and bring people together, starting in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Currently, Unity Alliance provides courses on diversity, cultural competence, mutual respect and immigrant integration. With your help, we will be able to expand these programs even further - programs like Parent College.
Every parent’s dream is to help their children grow, succeed and reach their full potential both as scholars and as human beings. The problem is that there is no secret key to perfect parenthood. It is easy for parents to feel that they could be doing more to help their children reach their full potential. We believe children deserve every opportunity to thrive.
The Parent College is an educational program that empowers families, schools and communities to be fully engaged in children’s growth and education.
We do this by providing academic, leadership and life skills courses, and by helping overcome language barriers that might keep some parents from being fully involved in their child’s education.
Parent College is currently offered in both English and Spanish. With your help, Unity Alliance hopes to expand the program and make it even more accessible to under-served members of our community.
Your support will help us to:
- Hire translators and educators who can present and facilitate classes in other languages.
- Provide student programs during class so parents can participate
- And expand the Parent College’s curriculum to reach even more schools.
If this program doesn’t get funded, parents will continue to struggle to help their children reach their full potential. Please, support our campaign today. Let’s get parents, communities, and schools engaged, and watch as children excel!
Thank you for being part of our community and supporting all of our futures. Together, we can do great things!
Our Story
Unity Alliance of Southern Idaho is a nonprofit organization that was born in Twin Falls, the heart of the Magic Valley. In 2015, a small but vocal group of residents and outsiders began speaking out against our community’s refugee population. National bloggers picked up on the local movement, amplifying the message of negativity, hatred, and racism far beyond Idaho. The negativity grew to include the immigrant labor force. We were caught off guard, believing that our community gives everyone a sense of belonging when in reality, refugees and immigrants are being pushed to the side and not even given the chance to feel some sort of belonging. After seeing the issue, and knowing that Idaho stands for so much more than negativity and exclusiveness, members of the Twin Falls community came together to make a change.
In 2018, a diverse group of community leaders came together and committed themselves to finding solutions that would bring people together. The result of much discussion and difficult conversation grew to what we now know as the Unity Alliance of Southern Idaho. We strive to foster a culture that embraces diversity, integration, and respect. We also believe that every single human being deserves a chance to belong to something amazing. Refugees and immigrants have the ability to become valued members of any community and can contribute to creating a safe, welcoming environment that everyone can be a part of.
